About Liverpool Tramcar 762
The kit is based upon Car 762 which was one of twelve 70 seater bogie cars built in 1931/2 at Edge Lane Works in Liverpool and was originally fitted with
"Mono Motor" bogies and concealing valances. During 1939, it was fitted with EMB "Lightweight" bogies and about the same time, painted in a green livery.

When withdrawn in 1955, the lower saloon became a bowling green clubhouse at Newsham Park but by 1977 it had become derelict.
It was rescued by the Merseyside Tramway Preservation Society with restoration begining two years later at Green Lane Depot but due to lack
of accommodation, it had to be stored in the open for 18 months.
Work continued on the vehicle over the next twenty years at Speke and Princes Dock and by February 2000 was looking just as it did in the 1930s
and ready to run. Today, it is usually found operating on the heritage line of the
Wirral Tramway in Birkenhead.
In the autumn of 2010, the tram was lent to Blackpool Transport
to participate in a special event to celebrate 125 years of street tramway running. The
MTPS web site has a number of pictures showing its transportation to Blackpool where it was seen in revenue earning service
along the promenade for several weeks.
